Student Work
Pay it ForwardCharlie Cracknell, a nine year-old IB student at GEMS World Academy in Dubai made this terrific video clip as part of a unit of enquiry called "Pay it Forward" in which students pick a topic in which they consider how to make the world a better place. Charlie chose recycling and the idea was to give three people a message who in turn would tell three more people so that the message spreads. He did posters and wrote to companies to encourage recycling and then made the video clip with the help of his brother Ben, who is seven and also a student at GWA, and put it on to You Tube. It was a great way to get the word across. He has had emails from big companies like Glaxo Smith Kline in London, teachers in England and other companies and individuals around the world congratulating him on the clip. It has been seen in the UK, Ireland, US, Canada, Alaska, Sweden, France, India, South Africa, Lebanon, Australia, South America already. And now it’s on learnaspirebe.com. Well done Charlie.

UN Day at GWA
A student from GEMS World Academy describes a video made by the entire secondary school student body to highlight the issue of human rights for UN day. 'My name is Quinty Menkhorst. I'm 11 years old and in grade 7B. We decided to do a video for human rights, because they are important and everybody should know what they are. If everybody has human rights the world would be equal and people could live in peace. We enjoyed making this video, which took around three days to finish'.
